Overseeing all national media outreach on behalf of the grassroots campaigns that develop on Change.org every day, and advise, advising our organising team on local and regional media outreach.
Leading the buildup of our brand in Brazil, and helping to establish Change.org as the central platform for social change in Brazil.
Building and fostering relationships with well-established print and broadcast media as well as influential online outlets, social media leaders and bloggers.
Creating and maintaining systems for the tracking and reporting of media placement and contacts.
The ideal candidate will have:
A strong interest in aiding local, member-driven online campaigns and developing member capacity for increasingly larger campaigns.
Innovative ideas on how to use communications and media to win local, national, and international campaigns – and a willingness to take risks, to fail and to adapt.
Strong writing skills, with the ability to create high quality copy on very tight deadlines.
Insightful understanding of messaging and framing, and the judgment to repeatedly find the right message to engage campaign targets, journalists and Change.org members.
Notable past success in attracting national media attention as well as the ability to smoothly manage the most senior of media relations.
A strong grasp of politics, the political process and current social justice, economic and environmental issues within Brazil and internationally.
Experience in press and communications directly related to advocacy, political and/or nonprofit organisations is preferred but not required.
Bilingual in both Portugues (Brazil) and English.
Ideally experience winning campaigns.
Change.org is an exceptionally fast-paced and agile work environment. Candidates must be self-starters excited to work collaboratively in an ambitious organisation working for social change. Our staff members are high-impact, low-ego, and have a deep respect for our members. We would expect you to be the same.
We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, organised and detailed-oriented person who has excellent interpersonal skills and wants to be part of an organisation working to change the world.
